A mile from King’s Parade and looking rather prison-ish, Churchill isn’t the most attractive or best located of colleges. It is however one of the more modern, progressive and larger, and home of the University radio. Its newness offers other advantages over more traditional Cambridge colleges in terms of facilities and space (being well-endowed in the grounds department helps). More students come from state schools and there are more scientists (but few arty sorts, though), so pretensions and stereotypes get funny looks rather than approval.
