Christ's College, Cambridge

Christ’s, at only 300m from King’s Parade, is slap bang in the middle of the city, right by the shops and the bus station (and Burger King). It is one of the older and most beautiful colleges, built around four courts (with some parts dating back to the 15th-century), except for ‘the Typewriter’, the 70s accommodation block, which, visually, is a poke in the eye, but, socially, a pat on the back. Academic standards are very high which can up the pressure (there are showers in the library for students working a little too energetically). There’s a cheerful, supportive, sociable atmosphere that helps let off some academic steam.
